Love in action for the benefit of God’s people

Welcome to Our Church

Welcome to the First Lutheran Church of the Reformation. We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), a community of faith that includes members of long-time standing, people who come to us from various faith traditions, newcomers to the community and friends who still have many questions about faith. As a congregation we seek to be welcoming and loving to everyone who walks through our doors. God accepts you wherever you may find yourself in life and so do we, for no one is perfect. Instead, we are engaged in a faith journey that seeks to be attuned to God’s will and God’s way.

First Lutheran began as a church that was founded by Swedish immigrants, but today our congregation is made up of many ethnic origins. We are as diverse as our town: some of us are business professionals, some are looking for a safe place to spend the night, some are soldiers, some teach and some are just getting started in life. We are straight and gay and of various ethnicities and all of us are welcome as God’s own children.

Jesus told his followers “Love your neighbors as yourself.” We seek to follow this mandate by providing free meals and clothing to our neighbors in need. Our church is located in the midst of homeless shelters and low income housing. Thus our church’s mission can be summarized as: Love in action for the benefit of God’s people.

May God’s blessings uplift you and surround you,
Pastor Dagmar Rosenberg
